The AISC standard Prequalified Connections for Special and Intermediate Steel Moment Frames for Seismic Applications (AISC 358-27) is available for public review from September 15 until November 3, 2025.
This version includes the following changes:
- General updates to bolting requirements in applicable chapters.
- Chapter 6 (End Plate) updates to the bolt shear and bearing/tearout check to be consistent with the AISC Specification. The welding requirements for moderately ductile built-up sections have also been updated to alleviate the susceptibility to brittle fracture.
- Chapter 10 (ConXtech ConXL) updates to the collar bolt specification and other miscellaneous updates.
- Chapter 12 (Simpson Strong-Tie) updates that expand the connection prequalification limits.
- Chapter 15 (DuraFuse Frames) updates that expand the connection prequalification limits.
The standard is available for free download on the AISC website at aisc.org/publicreview, along with the review form.
